Of How

Of How
  – Khwaish Gupta

As zephyr
hit my face
I was
but swayed to be
reminded of you.

Of how,
dancing in the wind,
you yearned to
reach the heaven.

Of how,
against the strongest of gales,
you struggled to live.

Deemed to be worth it.

Of how,
you alighted
in the most
storied land,
the Sahara,
only to canoodle with
the sand dunes.

Of how,
you were
impassioned with
this misadventure.

Of how,
a leaf’s soulfulness
its karma.
